West Palm Beach, FL May 27th, 2016 — For the 17th year, WPTV5 Chief Meteorologist Steve Weagle will be making his annual Ride for the Red Cross beginning May 30 to June 3. For five days Steve will be riding a bicycle donated by Wheels of Wellington. His trek will take him across two Red Cross Chapters ranging from Sebastian to Boca Raton to mark the beginning of the 2016 hurricane season and raise awareness of the need to prepare. “Since 2003, I have had the privilege of working with Steve on this event. I look forward to this 17th Ride,” said Sarah Ruwe, Executive Director of the Florida’s Coast to Heartland Chapter of the Red Cross South Florida Region. “The funds raised at this event will not only help us ensure that residents are prepared, but will allow the Red Cross to respond and assist when need arises.” “Our deepest gratitude to Steve and our sponsors for coming together to help us bring awareness to the importance of hurricane preparedness,” said Robin Hicks Nunley, Executive Director of the Greater Palm Beach & Martin County Chapter of the Red Cross South Florida Region. Steve’s Ride for the Red Cross Wrap-up Party will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday June 3, 2016 at The Dubliner Irish Pub, Mizner Park 435 Plaza Real in Boca Raton.
