FAU to Offer a Variety of Youth Summer Camps BOCA RATON, Fla. (May 7, 2015) – Florida Atlantic University will offer a variety of youth summer camps for students in kindergarten through 12th grade this summer. Areas of focus include arts and enrichment, athletics, engineering, environment, and science. The camps will take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road, unless otherwise noted. Academic camps include: School of Architecture Summer Institute Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 19; Monday, July 13 through Friday, July 24; from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program will be open to rising sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school; recent high school graduates; and students in their first two years of college. All students with or without design background are welcome. FAU’s Pine Jog Summer Day Camp will offer campers, ages 5 – 12, a balance of environmental education, arts, culture, sports and outdoor fun. Students may attend weekly or in three-week sessions. Each week will focus on a different environmental theme: Session I - Sunday, June 7 through Thursday June 25; from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Session I theme is Green Savers. It will focus on ways to save resources and “green” children’s daily practices. Session II - Sunday, June 28 through Thursday, July 9; from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In Session II, the theme is Florida’s Fabulous Animals, in which campers will become “experts” in local wildlife: from a bug’s life to ocean creatures. Campers are challenged to work on their individual skills as well as the tactical aspect of their game. The camp is open to girls currently in eighth through 12th grades who are looking to elevate their game to the next level. Particular emphasis will be given to providing participants with elite training sessions that are specific to each player’s position including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.
