The funding will support a comprehensive package of improvements designed to protect the Zoo’s 400,000 annual visitors, 100+ staff members, and more than 500 animals. Enhancements include: - Installation of a mass notification system - New access controls, security cameras, fencing, and lighting - A fiber optic network for improved monitoring and communication - Measures to reduce stormwater runoff, restore wetlands, and advance natural resource conservation - Upgrades to improve the health and well-being of both wild and zoo animal residents - Restoration of PB Zoo's Baker Lake & surrounding wetland areas to their native state “Palm Beach Zoo is honored to work alongside Representative Gossett-Seidman, whose love for nature, the environment, and this Zoo shines through in everything she does,” said Margo McKnight, President & CEO of Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. “Her leadership in helping the Zoo secure this appropriation for water quality demonstrates a true commitment to protecting both wildlife and the community we share. Thanks to her vision, future generations will enjoy cleaner water, healthier ecosystems, and the incredible biodiversity that makes Palm Beach County so unique.” Representative Gossett-Seidman (R-91) praised the Zoo’s commitment to conservation and public safety: “The Palm Beach Zoo is a pillar of our community — protecting wildlife, educating families, and welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. These enhancements will ensure the Zoo remains a safe, sustainable, and inspiring place for generations to come.” This appropriation is part of Representative Gossett-Seidman’s record-breaking effort to deliver over $19 million in state funding this session for projects across District 91 and Palm Beach County— the most in Boca Raton’s 100-year history.
