Boca Raton now has a new source for original, objective and around-the-clock local news with the launch of TAPinto Boca Raton. The newly launched free site is a partnership between veteran journalist Leon Fooksman and software innovator Matt Tabin, founder of 2am.tech, one of the nation’s fastest-growing tech companies. TAPinto Boca Raton will focus on all things Boca — from covering local government and schools to new restaurants and food trends to public safety and the business community. It’s the fifth TAPinto site in Florida, a network of more than 95 independently owned and operated local news and digital marketing platforms in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. Fooksman brings more than 15 years of newsroom experience covering government, law enforcement, politics, education, and courts for daily newspapers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida, where he worked at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a reporter covering Delray Beach and public safety in Palm Beach County for nine years. A graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, he launched TAPinto Coral Springs in 2020, followed by TAPinto Coconut Creek in 2022 — both of which have grown into successful hyperlocal news outlets. “Boca Raton is an exciting, vibrant city with a lot going on,” Fooksman said. “There are many new developments coming. The food and entertainment scene is thriving. It’s a destination city. And the community is filled with untold stories that we’ll be unearthing and covering in an objective and compelling way.” Tabin, a longtime software engineer, programmer, and web and app developer, said joining forces on TAPinto Boca Raton was a natural fit. His company, which provides software development and consulting services, ranked on the 2024 Inc. 5000 list, which celebrates the fastest-growing private companies. “I wanted my company to be a part of telling the story of Boca Raton, a place where we have worked with many clients,” Tabin said. “We will use innovative storytelling techniques to bring to life the people and culture behind this fascinating city.” TAPinto Founder and CEO Michael Shapiro welcomed the expansion: “We are thrilled to expand to Palm Beach County under the leadership of veteran franchisee and journalist Leon Fooksman and tech innovator Matt Tabin.” Readers can sign up for free daily e-news from TAPinto Boca Raton by clicking here (select Boca Raton) and follow the news on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
