All of these events will be held at the Temple Beth El Schaefer Family Campus located at 333 S.W. 4th Avenue, Boca Raton, FL 33432.

“My goal with the “Power of Music” series is to show all of the beautiful ways in which music can be a vehicle to express joy, to deal with pain, to find parts of ourselves we thought we lost and ultimately to elevate our spirits to levels we never knew were possible,” said Cantorial Soloist, Michelle Auslander Cohen.

DEFIANT REQUIEM: FILM & SPEAKER

“Defiant Requiem” tells the story of a most dramatic example of intellectual and artistic courage in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. The inmates fought back…with art and music. Despite hunger, disease and slave labor, the Jewish inmates of Terezin held onto their humanity by staging plays, composing opera and using paper and ink to record the horrors around them. Maestro Murry Sidlin, international conductor, president and creative director of The Defiant Requiem Foundation will speak about the arts and humanities as practiced by the prisoners in the Theresienstadt (Terezin) concentration camp.
Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 pm. S10 per person/$15 at the door.
RSVP at tbeboca.org/special-events

MICHELLE AND JOSH IN CONCERT: THE POWER OF MUSIC

Cantorial Soloist Michelle Auslander Cohen and guest Cantor Josh Breitzer bring music dedicated to preserving the memory of the prisoners in Terezin during World War II, as told through the movie The Defiant Requiem.” The concert will be filled with beautiful melodies and powerful messages of how we find hope and inspiration through the power of music.
Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 pm. $18 General Admission/$36 Reserved Seating/$100 Benefactor Reserved Seating. RSVP at tbeboca.org/special-events.

MUSIC AND MEMORY: HEALING PRACTICES TO HELP THOSE WITH ALZHEIMER’S
Music can at times “awaken” someone with dementia when they hear a selection that is meaningful to them. Cantor Riki Lippitz will share the successful techniques from the “Music and Memory” program in Israel and explore specific ways for you to use music to uplift and inspire those you hold dear. Cantor Lippitz is certified by the Music and Memory Foundation, creating personalized music to vastly improve the lives of dementia and Alzheimer’s patients.  Light refreshments will be served.
Sunday, November 17 at 3:00 pm. No Fee, but please RSVP at tbeboca.org/adult-programming.

The Power of Music series has been generously underwritten by the Temple Beth El Music and Arts Circle and the Lucille Geller Choir and Music Fund, in memory of Lucille Geller z” l, and is in conjunction with Temple Beth El’s Project Nuremberg.
