Boca Raton – More than 250 people attended the sold-out grand opening of Comic Cure’s Mizner Park Comedy Club on November 25, 2017 for the inaugural Mizner Park Comedy Festival. The festival which showcased 20 Florida-based comedians celebrated the Sunshine State’s rich and diverse talent pool while also benefiting a local non-profit organization. The event benefited Love Boca Outreach Ministries whose mission is to provide resources and inspiration to the homeless population in Boca Raton. “It’s our mission at Comic Cure to support local comedians and local non-profits. Now with this new space we plan to expand that mission to support local businesses,” said Comic Cure owner Benjamin Leis. “Our goal is to use the unifying power of laughter to uplift and engage local communities around important causes. The support of the Boca Raton community has been overwhelming and we’re looking forward to building a home for comedy here in South Palm Beach County.” A judging panel of local civic leaders helped to name a winning comedian as well as the audience. The judging panel included Boca Raton City Council Members Andrea Levine-O’Rourke and Robert Weinroth, Michael Liss from the Downtown Business Alliance, Sarah Pearson from the Boca Chamber, and Candidate for Florida House of Representatives Matt Spritz. The winning comedians were Debbie Anne (Judges Vote) from Jupiter, Florida and Sheena Reagan (Audience Vote) from Ft. Myers, Florida. “Having a comedy club in downtown Boca Raton is just what our community needs right now,” said Michael Liss from the Downtown Business Alliance. “There is nothing better than to laugh with friends and family and to do so for a great cause just makes it that much better.” The Mizner Park Comedy Club is located within the Mizner Park Cultural Center between Yard House and Ouzo Bay at 201 Plaza Real. The venue seats 225 cabaret style with no purchase minimums for food and beverage. Parking is available for free in the Mizner Park garages with $6 valet conveniently located at the front door to the Mizner Park Cultural Center.
