Oxbridge Academy to Attend China International Technology Fair First School in the United States Invited to Attend and Exhibit at Conference West Palm Beach, FL – Oxbridge Academy announces that it will attend the 7th Annual China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF) from April 18 – 20, and showcase its upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum and ongoing research projects. Oxbridge is the first and only high school in the United States to be invited to attend and exhibit at the event. The invitation comes following the launch of the school’s international student program last year and a recent trip to China by Head of School Ralph Maurer, Ph.D., to visit academic institutions and AI technology-based businesses. Eleven Oxbridge students have been selected to attend the conference based on their accomplishments in computer science, mathematics, scientific research and collaborations with experts at local universities, laboratories and scientific research organizations. While at CSITF, the students will be challenged to interact with, observe and contribute to several aspects of the tradeshow, including launches of new AI technologies and products, global panels on AI, and deliver a presentation on Oxbridge’s student-led work. During the rest of their trip, Oxbridge students will study AI coding skills at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, visit AI-based startup companies, and visit Chinese K-12 schools launching their own AI programs. The trip is designed as a pilot program to introduce a new AI curriculum at Oxbridge, which will be available to all students starting in the fall. The program will launch with three courses in its first year. The first course, Applications, History, and Current Issues in Artificial Intelligence, will be an elective that covers the full gamut of issues related to artificial intelligence, including basic code, logic, history of AI technology, philosophy, and ethics, among other topics. The second course, Artificial Intelligence and Computational Math, will take high-level math and computer science students through a full year of coding and deep conceptual understanding in areas such as search, machine learning, and neural networks. Finally, the third course is based on the current trip in April and will also serve as the STEM counterpart to the most successful Signature Program at Oxbridge, the Cambridge Scholars Program, which was established in 2015 and offers 10 juniors an immersive educational experience to study at Cambridge University in England for two weeks each spring. “The invitation to CSITF is a remarkable opportunity for our students to be exposed to technological advances at the highest level, including the announcement of new technologies and applications, building their interest in AI and other technologies,” said Oxbridge Academy Head of School Ralph Maurer. “This trip also plays a crucial role in launching our new AI curriculum, part of the Board of Trustees’ vision of Oxbridge Academy as a world-class independent school.” The students will be live blogging from China about their experience.
